Autism Assessments
What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental difference that shapes how individuals process information, communicate, and experience the world around them. While signs of autism often appear in early childhood, many individuals, especially those with more subtle traits, may not receive a diagnosis until later in life.
Autism can involve differences with social communication, understanding social cues, adapting to changes in routine, processing sensory input and a high degree of effort or reliance on compensatory strategies (i.e., masking). Alongside these differences many autistic individuals have meaningful strengths, including strong attention to detail, deep interests, creative problem-solving and a unique way of viewing the world. Understanding autism is not about identifying deficits, but about recognizing an individual's unique cognitive profile and how their brain naturally functions to support authentic and sustainable living.
Autism Assessments
A comprehensive autism assessment can provide clarity, direction, and a better understanding of how you or your child experiences the world. At ACTivate psychology we offer high-quality ASD assessments for children, adolescents, and adults who are fully verbal and aged 6 and older. We recognize that autism can present differently across the lifespan and often involves conscious or unconscious strategies used to navigate social expectations and behaviour regulation. We are committed to providing thoughtful, neurodiversity-affirming care.
An Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment may include:
